Procedures that didn’t exist 20 years ago—heart bypass surgery, knee and hip replacements and dental implants to name a few—have become commonplace. A side effect of these medical miracles is dealing with pain. The use of pain medications—including opioids—has sky rocketed.
Opioid overdose is a growing problem around the country and in Minnesota. It’s hitting young and old and has recently shown to be affecting our economy.
Join us to discuss how this epidemic came about and what we can do to reverse it.

Dr. Pylkas is board certified in internal medicine and addiction medicine. She practices with the HealthPartners Interventional Pain Clinic in St. Paul and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota.
