FORUM NOTES

Highlights from Jan's Presentation

Jan delivered a very informative and engaging presentation regarding the progress of the positive aging movement. With a forecasted doubling of the state’s older adult population due to longevity and the “tsunami” of Boomers this topic could not be more important or relevant.
The good news is that aging looks different now with medical procedures and technology that both reduce disabilities and expand access and mobility – advancements that could add 20 years to our lives. These extra 20 years of longevity are being added to the healthy, active middle of life rather than to the end of life, providing so many opportunities to age well. But medical procedures and technology alone do not result in healthy, vital aging. It also requires exercising the multiple dimensions of wellness that were addressed in Jan's presentation.
