The Vital Aging Network’s mission is to promote self-determination, civic engagement, and personal growth for people as they age. We achieve that through education, leadership development, and opportunities for connection. VAN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Our vision is that people 50+ involved with the Vital Aging Network will be engaged and contributing throughout their lives. (Learn more by reading the About Us flyer.)
The Vital Aging Network is organized around these core principles:
VAN accomplishes its mission through a variety of programs that are open to everyone. Aging with Gusto is a series of facilitated conversations that help participants examine the impact of ageism in their lives and build strategies for living a full, engaged life at every age. Older-adult-led Wellness 50+ programs engage community members in activities that promote health, fitness and community connection. VAN Forums provide opportunities for learning and community connection and Vital Voices is a forum for ongoing civic discussions that help people take on active roles in their communities.

One of VAN’s primary focuses is civic engagement for people 50+.
In partnership with Twin Cities Public Television (TPT), VAN produced this video. The video explores the importance of civic engagement in creating sustainable communities. People 50+ have an opportunity to lead the way.
